Through a new agreement with H&C, independent pet stores can now carry CategoTM, a powerful new flea and tick control uniquely formulated for cats.
Makers of the widely known and popular Feliway® behavior product line for cats, Ceva introduced Catego last November. The first fast-acting flea and tick topical parasiticide made specifically for cats contains the active ingredients Dinotefuran, Fipronil and Pyriproxyfen. Catego kills fleas within 6 hours1, and on the day of application achieves 97% efficacy within 3 hours2.
“Ceva Animal Health prides itself in developing innovative solutions to enhance the health of companion animals. This is especially true in the underserved feline market. We are pleased to offer cat owners the best solution to better protect their cats from harmful pests,” said Craig Wallace Chief Executive Officer, Ceva Animal Health.
Suitable for all cats weighing more than 1.5 pounds and more than eight weeks of age, Catego is packaged in 3- and 6-dose cards; each dose lasts for one month. The suggested retail price for a 3-pack is $39.99 and $72.99 for a 6-pack card. Each dose comes with a patented applicator tip that allows easy application down to the skin and minimizes the risk of skin abrasions.
Catego not only kills adult fleas on contact, it breaks the life cycle, which protects against multiple stages of the flea cycle and flea re-infestation.
Catego also tackles ticks head on, killing ticks in all stages of life through contact and before they have the chance to bite. Catego offers protection against various tick species including Brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), American dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis), Lone Star ticks (Amblyomma americanum) and Deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis). The ticks Catego kills may transmit a number of diseases, including Lyme disease, Cytauxzoonosis, Haemobartonellosis, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis and Anaplasmosis
“Catego gives pet owners a powerful formulation to help better protect their cats from harmful pests. Its ability to kill and control fleas and ticks, combined with its easy application, give pet owners a new standard of care in protecting their beloved cats,” said Elizabeth Hodgkins, DVM, JD, Director, Veterinary Relations, Ceva Animal Health.
Pet owners may also still purchase Catego through their veterinarian during their regular veterinary visits.
“While we are pleased to offer the convenience of purchasing Catego at independent stores and in veterinary hospitals, we strongly encourage regular veterinary visits to ensure the health and well-being of their pets,” Hodgkins said.
